This Privacy Policy explains how harshtruths (the “App”), operated by Harshtruths.app (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles your information. It is written to match how the App actually works.
The short version
harshtruths has no user accounts, no login, and no servers that collect your data. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking, and we do not use third‑party SDKs. Everything you create in the App stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage — we cannot see it.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit to ourselves:
- Your name, email, or any account credentials (there are no accounts).
- Your quiz answers, personality result, written reflections, streak, or settings.
- Analytics, usage data, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location.
We do not track you across apps or websites, and the App makes no App Tracking Transparency request because there is nothing to track.
Information stored on your device and in your iCloud
When you use the App, the following is created and stored locally on your device, and — if you have iCloud enabled — mirrored to your private iCloud key‑value storage (Apple’s NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore):
- The name you optionally enter.
- Your personality quiz answers and result.
- Your written reflections.
- Your reminder time/days, intensity preference, and streak.
This data is tied to your Apple ID and synced across your own devices by Apple, under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to it and no ability to retrieve it. If you do not use iCloud, the data stays only on the device.
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions (harshtruths +) are sold and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment information. The App only learns, via Apple’s StoreKit, whether you currently have an active subscription — an anonymous entitlement flag that is not linked to your identity. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There is no push server and no notification data leaves your device. You can disable reminders in the App or in iOS Settings at any time.
Required‑reason APIs
The App uses Apple’s standard on‑device storage (UserDefaults) to save your preferences. This is declared in the App’s privacy manifest. No data from this API leaves your device.
Your choices and controls
- Edit or delete your data: In Settings → Delete All My Data, you can erase your name, quiz result, reflections, and settings from both your device and your iCloud. This action cannot be undone.
- iCloud: You can turn iCloud sync on or off for the App in your device’s iCloud settings.
- Subscription: Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription.
- Notifications: Toggle in the App or iOS Settings.
Because we do not hold any of your personal data on our own systems, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, sell, or delete on your behalf — these rights (including under the GDPR and CCPA) are satisfied directly through the on‑device controls above and through Apple for iCloud and purchase data. We do not sell or share personal data.
Children
harshtruths is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, noted in the App.
